All-On-4 Dental Implants
Believe it or not, tooth loss in America is widespread. Nearly 35 million Americans are missing their upper and lower teeth. Instead of living with the daily hassle of dentures, many patients are opting for All-On-4 dental implants. Dental implants are minimally invasive and are done as an outpatient procedure. During the procedure, a titanium screw is inserted into the jaw bone of the patient where the root of their tooth used to be. Titanium integrates with the bone, and the implant becomes solid once it is fully incorporated. Once the implant is placed, a crown is attached to give the patient a functional and realistic prosthetic tooth.
All-On-4 implants will give the patient a mouthful of teeth with only four implants versus implants for every tooth, which equals 28 implants total. This way a patient can have four implants on the upper arch and four implants on the lower arch and have functional teeth in as soon as the first appointment. All-On-4 implants are a better and permanent alternative to regular dentures and aren’t as cumbersome.
Another important benefit to implants after the loss of teeth is they prevent future bone loss in the jaw. Implants will help maintain a more youthful facial structure and enhanced oral health. Once the implants and teeth are placed, patients have to go on a soft food diet for the first three months until the implants fully integrate into the bone. Usually, the patient has been on a soft diet anyway due to discomfort with their teeth and gums, so the diet isn’t going to be life-changing to them.
If a patient currently wears dentures, are thinking about dentures, and have failing teeth, All-On-4 could be the answer they’ve been looking for.
